DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a system for confirming the authenticity of an email message by using an e-signature. When DKIM is enabled for a given domain, a public key is published to the global DNS database and a private one is stored on the mail server. If a new email message is sent, a signature is issued using the private key and when the email message is received, that signature is authenticated by the incoming email server using the public key. In this way, the recipient can easily recognize if the email message is authentic or if the sender’s email address has been forged. A discrepancy will occur if the content of the email message has been changed on its way as well, so DomainKeys Identified Mail can also be used to make sure that the sent and the delivered email messages are identical and that nothing has been added or removed. This email authentication system will increase your email security, as you can verify the authenticity of the important emails that you get and your partners can do the same with the email messages that you send them. Depending on the particular email provider’s policies, an email that fails to pass the check may be removed or may reach the recipient’s mailbox with a warning.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Web Hosting

If you order any of the Linux web hosting services that we are offering, the DomainKeys Identified Mail feature will be activated by default for any domain name that you add to your website hosting account, so you won’t have to set up any records or to do anything manually. When a domain name is added in the Hosted Domains section of our in-house developed Hepsia Control Panel using our MX and NS records (so that the email messages related to this domain name will be handled by our cloud platform), a private key will be generated immediately on our email servers and a TXT record with a public key will be sent to the Domain Name System. All addresses set up using this domain name will be protected by DKIM, so if you send emails such as regular newsletters, they will reach their target audience and the recipients will know that the messages are authentic, because the DKIM functionality makes it impossible for unsolicited people to forge your e-mail addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you opt for one of the Linux semi-dedicated services that we offer, you will be able to use the DKIM protection service with any domain name that you register through your brand-new semi-dedicated hosting account without any manual intervention, as our cutting-edge cloud platform will set up all the necessary records automatically, on the condition that the domain uses our name servers. The latter is needed for a TXT resource record to be set up for the domain name, since this is how the public key can become available in the global DNS database. The private key will also be added automatically to our email servers, so whenever you send out a new message, it will have our platform’s digital signature. The number of junk email messages continues to rise every year and quite often forged addresses are used, but if you use our web hosting services, you and your clients or associates won’t have to bother about that.
